Wine of the Month - November 2021

Medium

This month we’re going to change your mind about Pinotage!

Sometimes this can be a bit of a marmite grape but not in the hands of Spice Route Winery of Swartland, South Africa. A modern, smooth, approachable and very easy-drinking Pinotage this wine is definitely worth a try by Pinotage lovers and sceptics alike!

The Swartland region north of Cape Town, even as recent as the 1990s, was seen as a bit of a backwater for winemaking, that was until Charles Beck realising the potential of this area started Spice Route in 1998, and today Swartland is one of the most exciting and dynamic regions in South Africa with a host of top producers, of which Spice Route Winery sits among.

Together with winemaker Charl du Plessis, Spice Route's founder, Charles Back, has created a delicious wine just bursting with rich fruit flavours. The grapes for the Pinotage come from a single block of dry-farmed bush vines growing in Koffieklip soils (decomposed granite from the Paardeberg Mountain), which produces elegant reds with a robust structure.

Throughout November, you can get this wine for the reduced 'mixed 6' price of £16.00.
You will also get 100 bonus loyalty points for every bottle of Spice Route Pinotage that you purchase!
