A lean, elegant and eye-catching Catalan Pinot Noir from vineyards tucked away in the Pyrenees.
The lowdown:
As a rule Spain is not somewhere you'd expect to see a good Pinot Noir, but the high altitude of the vineyards gives a much cooler climate than elsewhere in the country, yet plenty of sunshine ensures lovely ripe fruits. The result is that this Pinot might be described as maybe a touch more New World in style. Ripe red berry and strawberry fruits with hints of sweet spice. Medium bodied with a concentrated richness and balanced, fresh acidity. An excellent wine that is surprisingly well worth a try over an Aussie, Kiwi or Chilean alternative.
When to drink:
With it's easy going nature it makes a good stand alone wine, but with food is ideal with pork and poultry and light spiced asian food.
