In a nutshell:
Luscious and exceptionally concentrated this is a super example of Tokaji, Hungary's famous dessert wine.
Château Dereszla is one of the historic estates of Tokaj and has a maze of centuries old underground cellars beneath their buildings as well as some of the best vineyards in the region. Tokaji Aszu, one of the world's best known sweet wines is made from grapes that have shrivelled on the vine under the influence of noble rot which massivley concentrates the sugar levels. This, from Chateau Dereszla, whilst unctuously sweet is not at all cloying and is full of rich orange peel and marmalade flavours. The good mineral backbone and crisp acidity counter the sticky sweetness perfectly and leads to a long, rich and cleansing finish.
When to drink:
Try it with foie gras, or rich orangy and chocolatey desserts.
