Château des Antonins, Bordeaux Blanc 2024
A wonderfully aromatic, complex and structured Bordeaux white.
Dry, Light-Bodied, Unoaked
Vegan
The Lowdown
This delightful Bordeaux Blanc is a blend of 80% Sauvignon Blanc and 20% Semillon which bursts with bright aromas of grapefruit, tropical fruit, and a hint of mint. The Semillon adds a lovely texture and richness, giving it an ample mouthfeel and a satisfying length. It's a pleasantly aromatic and complex white, with just the right amount of structure. An excellent and good value example of the often-overlooked white wines of Bordeaux.
The Occasion
This wine would pair best with meaty and oily fish dishes.
The Producer
Château des Antonins derives its name from the Antonine monks who lived there for centuries, with some of the original 13th-century buildings still standing on the estate. The current owners, the de Roquefeuil family, took over in 1985 and have since transitioned the estate to sustainable practices. Most of their vineyards are planted with Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Cabernet Franc, producing some excellent reds. They also have a few hectares of Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon, which go into their good value white that shouldn’t be overlooked. It's a lovely mix of history, tradition, and modern winemaking.
