In a nutshell:
A sophisticated, fruit forward and attractive Margaux from the excellent 2015 vintage.
The old estate of Chateau du Tertre lies on one of the highest 'hills' in Margaux, Tertre roughly translating as knoll or hillock, and was bought by its neighbour, Chateau Giscours, in the mid-90s. Investment and a massive improvement in quality quickly followed. This 2015 is classically Cabernet Sauvignon dominated, but with some Merlot, Cab Franc and Petit Verdot. Plenty of black fruit, cassis and spice aromas with an underlying freshness on the medium-full bodied palate. Those fruity notes come through with touches of dry herbs, a slight earthiness and minerally graphite notes on the finish, all supported with balanced acidity and firm tannins. Great wine from a great vintage that is really enjoyable.
When to drink:
Will keep easily for the rest of this decade, and beyond. Try with duck like magret de canard or confit.
