Chateauneuf-du-Pape `Cuvee Les Sommeliers`, Jaques Mestre 2013

This traditional Chateauneuf-du-Pape, made by Jaques Mestre in the town itself, is a classic southern Rhone blend of 60% Grenache, 10% Syrah, 10% Mourvedre and 5% Cinsault, with the rest being made up of other bits and bobs in the traditional Chateauneuf way. Aged in large oak foudres the wine is released to order and has the good firm structure and power expected of a fine example of the appellation. Forward red fruits from the Grenache with spice, cedar and pepper following. Full bodied, soft but with a spicy kick, and a good long length.
