In a nutshell:
A splendid red Burgundy from the Grand Cru vineyard of Corton.
The Corton vineyard in Aloxe-Corton is the only red Grand Cru in the Côte de Beaune - the remainder being in from the Côtes de Nuits. This prime example from Bertrand Ambroise has opulent berry fruit, complex spice, cracked black pepper and fresh herb flavours which are complimented by more developed notes of smoke, earth and dried wild mushroom. The tannins are abundant but smooth and supple and the crisp acidity gives this wine real freshness.
When to drink:
Beautifully balanced with satisfying length, partner it with things like roast veal, or the classic coq au vin.
