The lowdown:
Kazematten are based in the heart of Ypres with the brewery occupying the old city fortifications of the ramparts, used throughout the centuries including by the British during WW1. In honour of this the beers have been named Wipers Times after the British soldiers satirical newspaper produced in this same place. Their Dubbel is a full-bodied brown ale brewed like a classic abbey-style beer and exclusively with local hops. Spice aromas of star anise and clove with apple fruitiness and orange blossom notes. Hints of ginger, cinnamon and nutmeg on the palate add to the complexity with burnt caramel and biscuity notes. A long smooth, slightly nutty finish.
