The lowdown:
Francesco Rinaldi's 2018 Barolo is a wonderfully pure expression of quality Nebbiolo and while Rinaldi very much produce wine in the traditional style their 2018 Barolo is approachable young and is quite enveloping. Produced from only 3ha of vines from five Cru vineyards in La Morra, Barolo and Castiglione Falletto the wine is matured in the traditional way in large 5000 litre Slavonian oak barrels for three years. Ruby garnet in colour the aromas have that wonderful, distinctive, all encompassing, ethereal quality that only good Piemonte Nebbiolo can do. Perfumed notes of concentrated red berry fruit and floral notes lead onto a dry, rounded and concentrated palate with savoury touches, robust tannins and balanced acidity.
When to drink:
Drinking now but decant for at least 1 hour, but this wine will keep for decades to come.
