Zmago Petric's family's winery is located in Vipavska Dolina in western Slovenia, not far from Trieste in Italy. From the very beginning, they have worked organically and biodynamically, devoting their energies to local grape varieties and respecting the natural environment around them.
Concentrating on the varieties of Zelen and Pinela which are only grown in this region and nowhere else on the planet, they have built a genuinely unique proposition. Everything is hand-picked, naturally fermented and then bottled unfiltered with just a minimal sulphur addition, creating wines that are delicate, mineral and full of freshness.
They are one of only four certified biodynamic wineries in Slovenia. With just 10 hectares of vines production is tiny, only 40 thousand bottles a year are made. As well as indigenous Zelen and Pinela vines, Barbera and Cabernet Franc are also grown.
They don't add any sulphur (SO2) at any stage of the processes before bottling and only minimal amounts are used if absolutely necessary at bottling. Everything is bottled unfiltered and unfined. All their wines are suitable for vegetarian and vegans and are organic and Biodynamic.
