DESCRIPTION
A vibrant, fresh and almost Beaujolais like Red blend from Mendoza in Argentina.
The lowdown:
A bit reminiscent of cru Beaujolais probably due to the carbonic maceration the Pinot Noir and Malbec undergo before fermentation. The result is light bodied, fresh and crisp with a touch of grip on the finish. There are some interesting funky notes on the palate and just a hint of spritz.
When to drink:
Odd but great - not your typical Argentinian wine! Try slightly chilled in the warmer months.
Suitable for Vegans, Organic
PRODUCER
Gen del Alma

Gen del Alma is the personal project of winemaker Andrea Mufatto and her husband Gerardo Michelini. Although they only started up in 2012, it's already a name to watch amongst the new wave of Argentinian producers who promote freshness and a sense of place over winemaking process.
They own and lease a few hectares in the Uco Valley subregion of Mendoza and have a winery near the town of Tupungato. Their aim is to show the diversity of terroir within the valley where Geographical Indications are just starting to be established. They make compelling wines, showing a high degree of drinkability and finesse rarely seen in Argentine wine. But don't mistake the fun labels and deliciousness for a lack of gravitas, there's a seriousness in their top wines, and across the board minimal vinification allows the fruit to shine.
