In a nutshell: Fresh, vibrant and juicy Malbec from the Aude in South West France.
The lowdown: The Haute Valleé de l'Aude near the city of Carcassonne in the Languedoc where the grapes for this super tasty Malbec are grown has the enviable climate of warm Mediterranean sunshine during the day coupled with, thanks to the altitude, cooler night. This results in beautifully ripe grapes with clean, balanced acidity. Fresh, bright aromas of red fruits and crushed blueberries with touches of crème de cassis and parma violets lead onto a vibrant medium-bodied palate bursting with red fruit and cranberry notes with slightly warmer cocoa touches on the finish. This really is a great, fun little weekday wine.
When to drink: Perfect with pizza, sausages, or steak pie. Also a great 'sharing' wine for picnics and barbecues!
