DESCRIPTION
In a nutshell:
A creamy Canadian Chardonnay with a rich minerality.
The lowdown:
The Niagara Peninsula in Ontario is Canada's largest wine region where the climate benefits from sitting between lakes Erie and Ontario which helps offset some of the extreme winter temperatures. The grapes here come from vineyards on the Beamsville Bench close to the shores of Lake Ontario. Fermentation is started in stainless steel before being transferred to large French oak barrels to complete. Following malolactic fermentation it's bottled unfined, unfiltered and with minimum use of sulphur. On the nose crisp citrus mingles with a vanilla creaminess while the intricate layers on the palate are simultaneously ripe and lean with a good texture holding it together. It all finishes with a clean acidity in the lengthy sign off.
When to drink:
Riep and savoury this is a great food wine; rich poultry dishes and feathered game come to mind here.
Suitable for Vegans

PRODUCER
Norman Hardie

Norman Hardie is one of the most prominent personalities in the Canadian wine industry. After starting out as a sommelier he made a decision early on that he wanted to make wine and in the ensuing years set about learing how to do it at vineyards and wineries across the world. After buying land in Ontario's Prince Edward County the first vines were planted in 2003. The soils here are ideal for growing top class pinot noir and he also has vineyards in the Niagara peninsula from where some of his superlative chardonnays are sourced.
