In a nutshell: A deep and intense golden Venezuelan rum aged in white oak casks.
The lowdown: Pampero Añejo Especial is a blend of different rums that have been aged for at least two years in white oak casks prior to bottling. It was the first rum to be accredited 'Añejo' (meaning 'aged') by the Venezuelan government due to its innovatve maturation process. It has a spicy and rich aroma with a robust, sweet, smooth and warming taste and is great as a sipping rum or used in a wide range of cocktails.
The Venezuelan rum distiller Ron Pampero was founded in 1938 by Alejandro Hernández. The company's logo features a gaucho sitting astride a rearing horse on the South American Pampas. And the name Pampero come from the relentless wind that blows across these plains. Today the business is a part of Diageo's worldwide stable of brands.
