The lowdown:
Ruinart is the oldest of the Champagne house being established as long ago as 1729 and, this, their Blanc de Blancs, made from entirely Chardonnay grapes from mainly Premier Cru and Grand Cru vineyards is their highest profile wine. It has a delightful golden yellow colour with a beautiful luminosity. Very fine long lasting bubbles and a clean, intensely crisp nose. On the palate it has warm, rich notes of brioche, French toast and roasted almonds. Very supple and harmonious it's altogther an exemplary pure chardonnay champagne.
When to drink:
It's an any occasion sparkler. As an aperitifit it's perfect, but complex and rich enough to work well with starters, seafood, and risottos.
