DESCRIPTION
A strong, dark Bavarian Doppelbock wheat beer from Bavaria's Schneider Weisse Brauerei.
The lowdown:
This is a quite deep, complex and very stong dark weissbier. It has a dark ruby colour, a warming well balanced body with a fine creamy head. The flavours of bananas, dried fruit and plums are rich and warming and lead to a well balanced, smooth finish.
Style - Weissbier ABV 8.2% - Very Strong
PRODUCER
Private Weissbierbrauerei G Schneider & Sohn

Dating back to the 1870s Brauerei G. Schneider & Sohn are still family owned to date. Surprisingly given the level of destruction, most German breweries survived the second world war. However this wasn't the case for Schneider who were quite literally bombed out of their premises in Munich. It was the occupying American forces who assured their subsequent resurrection granting a licence for the brewery to continue - with significant strings attached however. It was stipulated that all beers should be brewed to a lower strength and could only be sold to military personnel within the district of Munich.
They're now a household name throughout Germany and aborad with a well established export market. In the early 2000s they moved to a new brewery in the town of Kelheim on the banks of Danube. Their entire range is top-fermented wheat beers and watch out for their special Aventinus which is fully bottle conditioned.
