Sherwood Estate Riesling 2022

Waipara may not have Marlborough's fame, but it still produces some excellent wines, and Riesling is a grape that thrives here thanks to the region's soils and climate. This one has a delicate citrus nose, leading onto ripe apricots and a touch of honey on the palate. Full of flavour yet beautifully balanced, its bright fruit and floral notes are smoothed out by a silky mouthfeel. With modest alcohol at just 11%, a touch of sweetness reins in the zippy acidity - keeping things lively but never sharp enough to bite.

Lovely with a simple stir-fry, or perhaps some Thai fishcakes - its lightness and touch of sweetness work well with dishes that have a hint of spice.
