In a nutshell:
A soft and supple Australian Shiraz from the southern state of Victoria.
The grapes for this are picked at night and crushed within an hour of picking prior to undergoing a controlled fermentation at between 22 and 25°C which helps keep the freshness and avoid harsh tannins being extracted. A fifth of the final blend is barrel aged for extra depth and, at the end, 5% Malbec is added which gives it an interesting mulberry fruit twist at the finish. It's bright, aromatic and juicy on the nose with just a touch of bacon fat rounding it out. Fine, bright fruit flavours and a soft silky elegance makes this a very easily enjoyable wine.
When to drink:
Very good value and quite dangerously drinkable this goes well with gently spicy things such as a lamb tagine or similar.
