Tufarello Nero di Troia, Vigneti Canosini 2023
A deep brooding Italian red from Puglia that's bursting with fruits and spices.
Medium-Bodied, Oaked
Vegan
The Lowdown
Nero di Troia is a red grape speciality of the area around Canosa di Puglia in southern Italy and makes firm, savoury wines. This wine comes from 30 year old bush trained vines around 125 metres above sea level. After fermentation in stainless steel it was aged in oak barriques for four months. It's a wine that's overflowing with blueberries and spiciness on the nose with a touch of sour cherry on the palate accompanied by a powerful fruit pack combination of blackberries and dark plums.
The Occasion
The depth and body here mean pasta in rich meaty sauces, stews and casseroles go really well with it.
The Producer
This is made at Vigneti del Vulture part of the Fantini group founded in 1994 by Valentino Sciotti whose vision was to produce top-quality wine from southern Italy. Over the years, they've carved out a reputation for excellence, focusing on the unique terroirs of the region. Their wines capture the vibrant character and rich flavours of the south, offering a taste that's both authentic and refined.
