A refined and elegant Australian Semillon from the Hunter Valley in New South Wales and something of an iconic wine.
Vat 1 Semillon is the most recognized and awarded Semillon in the Hunter Valley, one of the oldest vineyard areas in Australia. First made in 1963 it uses vines planted as long ago as 1923 in their Short Flat vineyard which, with light sandy soil, is ideal for growing Semillon. Typically dry and quite light bodied it has a core of juicy citrus and lime fruit and an acid profile which gives it wonderful length and excellent balance.
When to drink:
While it's perfectly ready to drink this is a wine designed to age gracefully and will reward being laid down in the cellar for a few years.
