Description
In a nutshell:
A half bottle of one of the most famous of Champagnes whose reputation speaks for itself.
The lowdown:
A golden colour with a beautiful fine mousse, guaranteed to impress at any celebration. The nose is aromatic and complex with ripe fruit and spicy aromas. Roasted apples, apple compote and peaches burst on the palate. Brioche and notes of fresh walnut linger on the lasting finish. A subtle combination of structure, length, and vivacity.
The Producer:
The House of Champagne Bollinger was founded in 1829 in the village of Ay, in the heart of the Champagne region. Famous for its use of Pinot Noir, reserve magnums and oak aging techniques. They were the first Champagne House to be awarded a Royal Warrant in 1884, by the Court of England, which it has held ever since. The House's 178ha are planted with 85% Grand and Premier Cru vines, and include two famous plots, the Clos Saint-Jacques and Chaudes Terres. Pinot Noir represents 60% of the Houses vineyards, corresponding to its exact proportion in the Special Cuvee blend.
When to drink:
Serve it between 10 and 12° as the perfect aperitif. It also suits a wide range of seafood dishes, poultry or white meats.
