Description
In a nutshell:
A deliciously rich and full left bank Claret.
The lowdown:
There's a great depth and structure to this winemaking it a very worthwhile Claret. Kicking off with smoky and coffee aromas it doesn't take long for the juicy blackberry and ripe cherry flavours to emerge. Underlying this are cedar and earthy notes from the well-integrated tannins which marry well into the whole. Aged in 40% new oak barrels, the blend comprises nearly 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, quite characteristic of the Médoc, and it makes for very well balanced wine that culminated with lovely elegant finish.
The Producer:
Taking its name from the favourable location it enjoys boasting stunning views over the Gironde estuary, Château Beau-Site can trace its history back to the 18th century. It's owned by one of the region's major negociants, Borie-Manoux and the Casteja family, alongside an array of other prestigious Bordeaux chateaux. The vineyards extend to 40 hectares of which nearly three-quarters is planted with Cabernet Sauvignon. They typically age their wines in about 50% new oak for around 12-15 months.
When to drink:
Now hitting its peak it'll remain on top form for the rest of the 2020's. Lamb, poultry and red meats all work well with this.
Suitable for Vegans
