A ripe and full Merlot dominated St-Emilion Grand Cru.
The lowdown:
Merlot makes up around 80% of the blend with the remainder comprising Cabernet's Sauvignon and Franc. They use no pesticides in the vineyard and after fermentation the wine is matured for 15 months in oak barrels. The result is medium-full bodied wine which is pure, fresh and a in very elegant, classic style. There's lots of ripe fruit balanced with good acidity and refined tannins.
When to drink:
The Todeschini brothers, who own and run the château, certainly show their expertise here. A good wine to match with roast beef, steak or rich game dishes.
