DESCRIPTION
A wonderfully elegant Bordeaux inspired blend from Chile's Vina Errazuriz.
The lowdown:
Made from very carefully selected fruit across the Don Maximiano vineyard this superlative wine is made in honour of the estate's founder. Cabernet Sauvignon leads the blend with additions from Carmenere, Malbec and Petit Verdot and following fermentation the wine was aged for 22 months in French oak barrels, two thirds of which were new. The result is a fresh and layered wine with a distinctive minerality. Ripe plums and blackcurrant fruit flavours mingle with a touch of florality, while the silky tannins and smooth texture linger well into the long finish.
When to drink:
Intense and voluptuous, it's lovely drinking right now and will keep well to the late 2020s. Pair it with grilled, or roasted red meats, or well hung game dishes.

The Errazuriz Estate was founded in 1870 when Don Maximiano Errazuriz planted his first vineyards at Panquehue in the Aconcagua Valley, 100km North of the capital Santiago. Recognising that this valley, with its cool, rainy winters, hot, dry summers and moist Pacific Ocean breezes, was ideal for growing grapes, Don Maximiano sent for the finest clones from France and with tenacity and perseverance transformed this barren land into a world class vineyard.
Today, the tradition of quality lives on with Don Maximiano's descendant Eduardo Chadwick. Eduardo is the fifth generation of his family to be involved in the wine business. Eduardo has overseen the modernisation of the winemaking technology at this historic estate whilst maintaining a distinct identity for its wines. Alongside him works winemaker Francsico Baettig who boasts an impressive wine industry CV prior to coming to Errazuriz. They are dedicated to producing estate grown wines of superior quality and have built their reputation on this and as a result are one of Chile's leading family owned wine estates.
