Description
Amber, Red Ale & Bitter
England: London
ABV 4.6% - 10.0 Litres
In a Nutshell:
A proper London-born red rye ale - smooth, spicy, and effortlessly sessionable.
The Lowdown:
Made with both malted rye and malted barley, this has got body, a touch of soft spice, and a warm amber colour. The rye adds subtle nuttiness and a gentle warmth, making it deeply satisfying while Simcoe and Centennial hops bring in bright citrus and a hint of fruit. The result? A smooth, well-rounded ale with a bit of bite. Full of character and very drinkable, showing that a bit of rye goes a long way.
The Brewery
The Kernel was brewing in Bermondsey before the now-famous Beer Mile was even a thing. Founded in 2009 by Evin O'Riordan, it set the standard that many others would follow - proper, no-nonsense beer with a focus on quality over hype. And they're not one of those trendy craft brewery brands that started small but sold out to the corporates when the big boys came knocking. The Kernel's indie credentials and credibility are as strong today as they were when they started.
