A session-strength mild, chestnut brown with toasted malt, dark chocolate and gentle bitterness.
The Lowdown:
Mild here means dark, malty and quietly complex. It's a lovely rich deep chestnut, with toasted malt, dark chocolate and a whisper of coffee, all tempered by earthy bitterness and a subtle citrus lift from Summit and Target hops. The depth of flavour comes with a smoothness that makes it easy to drink. Mild may be out of fashion, but this shows it's still a style worth seeking out.
The Brewery: Founded in Tunbridge Wells in 2013, Pig & Porter started life balancing catering work with brewing before the beer side took over. Their range leans towards traditional British styles - bitters, porters, pale ales - brewed with a focus on balance and drinkability. While plenty of newer breweries have pursued constant reinvention, Pig & Porter have kept their attention on the core styles that define British brewing.
