Description
In a nutshell:
A well-structured natural Cabernet Sauvignon with striking red fruit and herbaceous flavours, from Chile.
The lowdown:
As natural wines go the ¡No es Pituko! range are superbly well made and quite modestly priced which makes them a quite attractive proposition. This vibrant and intense Cabernet Sauvignon has a slightly cloudy appearance, which, of course, goes with the territory. Its lively and inviting fruity aromas are full of red fruits and green peppers and lead on to a fresh palate with silky, soft tannins and raspberry, chocolate and liquorice tones. Easy to drink, easy to enjoy and a delicious example of a good minimal intervention wine.
The Producer:
Very much a family operation Vina Echeverría, with roots going back to the 1930s, was really put on a modern footing back in the 1980s by former World Bank economist Roberto Echeverría. Upon returning to Chile from the USA he set about renovating the familys rundown estate and has since made it into a widely admired winery. They have 65 hectares of sustainably farmed vineyards in Chiles Central Valley and Robertos son, Roberto Ignacio, is the chief winemaker and runs the business alongside his 3 siblings.
When to drink:
A very versatile wine to be honest but with food, good pairings include beef and lamb dishes in particular.
Suitable for Vegans, Organic
