Description
In a nutshell:
A balanced and refreshing cloudy Chilean natural wine with floral and tropical aromas and a nutty finish.
The lowdown:
¡No es Pituko! is Chilean slang for it aint fancy and the name was specially chosen by Vina Echeverría for their range of natural wines, of which their very proud. Because theres no filtration or fining at the bottling stage, a slight cloudiness in the bottle may well be present, but dont let that put you off. This is a wine with wonderfully vibrant aromas of peach, and tropical fruits, layered with buttery and nutty notes and balanced by a refreshing natural acidity. With plenty of flavours all playing together on the tongue its a pretty appealing wine.
The Producer:
Very much a family operation Vina Echeverría, with roots going back to the 1930s, was really put on a modern footing back in the 1980s by former World Bank economist Roberto Echeverría. Upon returning to Chile from the USA he set about renovating the familys rundown estate and has since made it into a widely admired winery. They have 65 hectares of sustainably farmed vineyards in Chiles Central Valley and Robertos son, Roberto Ignacio, is the chief winemaker and runs the business alongside his 3 siblings.
When to drink:
The complex flavour profile of this makes a good fit with subtly spicy poultry or vegetable dishes.
Suitable for Vegans, Organic
